after 9 years of faithful service, my wife has decided to retire her s&w 686 from primary carry duty. she cites the gun's weight and bulk as reasons for her shopping for its replacement.

we made it to the gun store today after months of shopping, questions, and feeling and playing, and picked up a s&w m&p in 40 s&w. we also attempted to pick up a holster and spare mags. we had no luck in finding a holster or mags, however. does anybody know where we should begin looking for these items? her preferred carry method is owb w/ leather/horsehide.

we brought the gun home where she field stripped it and cleaned it, re-assembled it, and worked on some dry-fire w/ snap caps - sort of a 'get to know you' exercise. she was impressed w/ the ease of disassembly and reassembly, and is nervous and excited about trying out the new weapon tomorrow.

the 686 has been a faithful, no-fail companion for awhile. i sure hope the m&p can deliver the warm fuzzies like 686 did!

There has been alot of good press on the new M&P...congrats & good luck in a seemless transition to service ;)

Midway can hook ya up for both mags and holsters----they did for my M&P9----no horse hide though---try Kramer leather for that.
