Looking for an OWB holster for Glock 20. Gun will be worn only when venturing into the woods, mountain hikes etc. Not sure if I should get the holster with a forward cant or not. I imagine I will be wearing the holster at about 3 o clock with a shirt worn over it to conceal the gun. Also it will be on my hip in the car , sitting down at campsites and all that.

I've been looking at a Milt Sparks ibak holster but it looks as if it has a forward cant and I'm not sure if that is what I really need.

Any help greatly appreciated.

If worn at 3:00, straight drop would probably be the easier draw. It will be a tougher draw when sitting though. While this R. K. Campbell article is a cross draw article, note the difficulty of the strongside draw when seated in the car with the straight drop holster which could probably be fixed by a canted holster. http://www.shastadefense.com/CrossDrawHolsters.htm

For hiking, I'm assuming you're less concerned with concealment and more concerned with access and security/retention.

I'm not a BlackHawk SERPA fan, and usually discourage folks from buying them, but for your use, it is a reasonable option. I believe forum member Mainsail uses one for his G20.

Another option would be one of the retention holsters from Safariland.

I don't know what your perceived level of activity may be while hiking/camping, but I am a huge fan of all of Safariland's stuff day to day.
I just picked up a couple of their lower end concealment holsters for my 1911 and Glock 19, and they are not only comfortable to wear, but have enough adjustable retention and positive "bite" a the paddle to pretty much lock on to my belt. Short of skittering along a cliff or the like, I don't think I'll have to worry about the gun coming loose.

It's a straight draw. For me, that makes the most sense in terms of comfort, being concealable, and retaining my gun without the need of grip lock or thumb-break.

I can highly recommend Pitbull Tactical, I have their Bloodline holster for my G19 and it's awesome.
The way it is designed, you can buy the neutral cant/straight draw version, and mount the belt loops in such a way as to still make it a forward cant holster if so desired.

Their fit with Glock handguns is truly excellent as well.

I use a Serpa for my G20 when I'm in the woods. I've taken a tumble or two down a hill, and it's always stayed in place just fine.

Thanks for all the suggestions however I am specifically looking for a high quality leather holster with belt loops. As for my activity in the woods, generally camp chores, fast walking , rock climbing etc

Thanks for clarifying. Are you looking for a retention device, like a thumb break? If not, the options are nearly endless. Thumb breaks will limit you a little, but there should be enough options to confuse you.

Typical recommendations would be...

Milt Sparks http://www.miltsparks.com
Mitch Rosen http://mitchrosen.com
Kramer http://www.kramerleather.com
Alessi http://www.alessigunholsters.com
Ritchie http://www.ritchieholsters.com

Some of those are available from retailers such as Brownell's, Top Gun Supply, Lightning Arms Sports, Dillon Precision, etc.

Simply Rugged makes high quality leather holsters. They can dude them up as much as you want, and they have loops.

I use a Bianchi M12 military holster for my G20SF. The quik-lok on the holster allows it to be attached to the backpack hip belt. The M12 will stretch to accommodate the big frame of the glock. Obviously this means open carry, but I can't think of any reason to carry concealed while hiking or backpacking unless the law requires it.

No, a retention device is not necessary. And for the other questions yes, the ability to conceal it under a large button down or open sweater is very important. I am considering a pancake owb. Is this a good choice?

Also 1 handed reholstering is a must. not sure if that means a reinforced mouth or what
