I just got my P7M8 back from CCR Refinishing and I am very satisfied with not only the finished product, but with how easy CCR was to deal with. Brad worked with me to insure that he would have my gun only when he was ready to work on it (giving me some additional range time beforehand :) )

The pictures don’t do justice to the superlative job Brad and CCR did. Not only is the GunKote finish smooth, even and extremely attractive, CCR even touched up at least one pre-existing blemish before they applied it (one of the grip screws was buggered, and now the slot is nice an clean). Needless to say, I am very pleased with their work.

Amazingly, on top of all this, CCR’s prices are quite reasonable, and they are very easy to contact by email. Highly recommended!

I don't have any before pictures--that was really stupid! FWWI, I'd rate the "before" gun at 80%-85%. The gun was purchased used.

Very nice!

What finish is that? It looks flat (vs glossy), but hard to tell. I've been thinking of doing something similar to my P7, and this may be the one.

No4Mk1, I don't know ;)--it's not a flat matte (like a glock) and it does have some reflectivity, but I certainly wouldn't call it shiny either. It's very pleasing and, like I said, my photos don't do it justice.

Looks Great!

Was it a brownish/plum color slide before? I have one with plum slide and the grind mark. I would love to have my gun looking as good as that.

oooo
I want to touch it...
Just as Obiwan, I was wondering about how the finish would hold up against wear.
Keep us posted!

Very nice pistol. Every time I see one I want one. However, I can't justify the expense.

BucksDC, Original finish had not "plummed" and was a blue/black.

Note that the finish is thin and would not camouflage the mill marks on police refurbs (I have heard of people successfully grinding down the entire slide surface to remove those marks). In fact, you can still see the original HK milling (ie, fabrication) marks on all surfaces. Even the extremely light stippling on the backstrap retains it's texture.

Thnx ExMachina,
I knew the grind would need milled smooth, I wonder how the plum slide would turn out?? I'll have to call them and find out.

Grinding the slide -- the P7 slide and frame are case hardened.Anyone grinding the slide should be aware that this will remove some or all of the case hardened surface !!!!!!

The finish is holding up just fine--thanks for asking.

Though I'm certainly not stress testing the gun (not burying it in quicksand, etc...) and it hasn't seen a lot of holster time (just b/c I still feel better served by my .45 1911), I feel very confident that this finish will be on this gun for a looong time ;)
