Anybody out there have any good experiences with paddle holsters? Everyone that I have either bought or tried on has rubbed my side too much, come out of place when making a quick draw, or hangs out too much and prints under a shirt too easily. I would like to find one that works, OR something that has a high ride and disconnects quickly from the belt, because I'm in and out of my pickup truck alot during the day. We're not talking about occasional use. There is a need for one to use alot. My two carry guns are a Springfield 1911A1 full size and an XD 9mm service model (4" barrel). Thanks.

Agreed----My 642 j-frame is a joy to carry weight-wise but the Fobus paddle holster is not conducive to concealment unless worn under a heavy winter coat.

I used a Safariland DEA style paddle to haul my Glock 22 when I was working and was very satisfied. It was pretty flat and positioned the butt into the body. Others that I have tried were just too bulky for concealed carry. Since retiring and putting on about 15 lbs (none of it in a good way), the paddle tends to dig into my extra flesh. I have abandoned it in favor of a belt holster. For those with a bit less body mass I think it's a good choice. Just my two cents, as always your mileage may vary.

I love paddles. My carry rig is a G19 in a Blade-Tec paddle with a spare mag and light on the other side in a Fobus paddle.
Nothing shows.

That being said, a lot depends on how you're built. If your waist is bigger than your chest, you may have printing problems with a paddle or any OWB holster. My waist is 12" smaller than my chest, so it's not an issue.

I've got a Fobus paddle for my M1911s. It seems to work reasonably well. I've only used it once because it hasn't been cool enough for a cover garment like a sweater, and I NEVER, EVER wear untucked shirts except to exercise. On a long exercise walk, I carried my Norinco M1911 in the Fobus under an untucked long sleeved T-shirt. It was reasonably comfortable and not obvious. It's possible that I'll use it more as it gets colder and I wear more sweatshirts and sweaters over my shirts.

I have a paddle holster for my 1911s and only use it at the range for the reasons outlined in the OP.

Thanks all. Appeciate the input. Sounds like I'd better stay away from paddle holsters. I'm picky about concealment. I think I'll just find me some more high ride pancake holsters and maybe a Miami Classic shoulder holster when I can. Just recently acquired a Blackhawk belt slide in black leather w/ the mag holder slot built right in, for a 5" 1911. So far it pulls in real well and also lets me draw pretty fast.

I just bought a CompTac paddle for my Sig 220. It locks onto the belt and prevents the holster from pulling out when presented. It sits fairly close to the body as well.

And that's with a 220. If you have a smaller sidearm, you're good to go. Mine was $61 shipped.
