Recently acquired a PSA Classic M4 Freedom upper, and the first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was how shiny the delta ring was. I mean shiny ... as in super high gloss plastic black. It this usual for PSA uppers? I don't recall seeing pictures of PSA uppers with this type of ring.

Also pondering how to bring down the gloss ...

Scotch Brite? That may be a way to knock the shiny gloss off it. As far as if they are all like that I don't know I've never bought a PSA upper without a free floating handguard.

Spray with flat black Rustoleum

I think Freedom are their Ptac with a new name

It is their bottom line rifle. I see parts like that from Davidson Defense/Delta Team Tactical.
They use a lot of Chicom knock off parts

I don’t know but PSA may be doing that on the smaller components

Rustoleum was one of the options, definitely.

Freedom and PTAC are different lines. I think PTAC was discontinued. PTAC was 1:9, and was junky. Freedom is 1:7 in a nitrided barrel - Rob Ski beat the living heck out of a Freedom M4 during a long term test, and it performed pretty well for a bottom line rifle. So far, I'm reasonably impressed with the Freedom - it's rough around the edges, and the creepiest trigger since basic, but I'm not going to complain for what I paid ($99.99 for a complete lower, and $199.99 for a complete upper with BCG = $319.98 for a complete AR M4gery.

Freedom line is definitely not PTAC. They were both running for awhile and the Freedom definitely carried a premium. Freedom, from what I understand, was intended to be their middle-tier line when it came out. I'd probably put it in the same category as the M&P Sport, maybe a little higher with some of the options you can get it with.
