Para LDA trigger system?

Hi, new guy to the forum. I'm shopping for a new handgun and was wondering if anyone had some input on Para-Ordnance's LDA trigger system. How does it compare to the 1911's 'traditional' trigger in terms of reliability, etc?

I've owned and shot them, and I like them. Those who have used single-action pistols almost exclusively (e.g. 1911's, Brownings, etc.) seem on the whole to dislike them - the pull is definitely longer, and not "crisp" as a good tuned SA trigger is. On the other hand, I like them for the deliberate pull needed to fire the gun - seems inherently safer to me in a stressful situation. YMMV.

The ones I have handled where very nice DA triggers. Long, smooth and light would be the best way to describe it.

I have had no trouble out of mine, around 1500 rounds thus far.

It is no doubt less reliable than the standard 1911 trigger, as there are more parts, and they are of less robust construction. They are constructed better than many other pistols though.

I like the feel of mine a lot. Feels better than bad SA 1911 triggers.

Haven't heard anything about reliability though. No probs so far.

... I can tell you from personal experience that they are not 100% reliable out of the box. Check here to see what kind of problems people are having with them.

Anyone out there shot one of the Para LDA guns next to a Kahr?

I used to have an MK40 Elite 98 and it had a real nice trigger ... if the Para has a trigger as nice that would probably push it up my want list a bit

I put 2500 care free, no jams, no problems rounds through a full size LDA.
I then decided I liked SA better and traded it in on another Para.

The new Tac-Four and Para Carry are making me reconsider. These I like.

The LDA trigger on its own merits is a great piece of engineering.

On a 1911, however, it's sort of pointless. The main strongpoint of the 1911 is its peerless SA trigger. The wide-body Paras negate two of the best features on the 1911, namely the SA trigger and the grip slimness. As a friend of mine says, maybe they can incorporate a high bore axis and ruin all the good features of the platform.

Owning both, the LDA trigger pull is lighter and smoother than those found on the Kahrs. However, my Kahr functioned flawlessly straight out of the box. I can't say the same for any of my LDA's ... and I own five of them.

Unless you are 6'5" and have large hands, then the double stack with a Hogue grip is the finest peice of handgun engineering ever developed.

No gun fits my hand better.

I'll agree on the LDA trigger; however, if I wanted a DAO, this would be the one.

Do the Paras really negate any of the best features of the 1911? Paras do have single column DAs that deal with one of those objections or concerns. Hard to see how Para has tried to ruin the venerable 1911. A lot of people have claimed to be better shots with Paras LDAs because that trigger seems to eliminate flinching while mainting the best grip size and best grip angle.
