Pawn Shop Steals

I think pawnshops are places that need a certain investment of time and effort. I've been trawling them for over five years now, and most of the time, one doesn't find much worth having. However, if they get to know your face, and know that you're seriously looking for something (particularly if you tell them up front what you're looking for), they can be very useful. I've not found them dishonest in their pricing if you make it clear that you know what you're talking about. Also, if you're a "regular", they will sometimes give you a great deal - for my latest, see here. You'll get out of pawnshops (in good prices and interesting hardware) what you put into them in terms of regular visits and constant checking.

Well, Dr. Rob...

with all due respect...

I bought a Marlin 882 22 mag, blued, laminated stock, clip fed....with Bushnell 4X and leather sling, NIB condition for $90 OTD.

Russian SKS (unfired) for $125 OTD.

Just saw a 1959 Winchester 94 .30-30 in 90%+ condition sell for $200 while I was there.

Unfired Remington 700 Sendero 7 Mag with Vari-X III and Butler Creek caps, adjustable bi-pod, tactical sling, Leupold QD mounts for $775

Deals are out there, but for every one great deal there's a coupla' hundred that aren't. Gotta be patient.

1) S&W 12-2,4" appeared unfired,no cylinder ring at all.All papers, box and tool kit still in plastic bag for 275.00 OTD,later sold to a friend for same,i didn't have the heart to shoot it.
2) colt 6" official police, close to 90% for 139.00 OTD,dated it to the mid 40's.I later sold it for $350.00
