Hey guys, so i inharited this old Pecar Berlin German made rifle scope and have no use for it. Id like to sell it but have no idea what its worth and dont know where to start. Its a variable 3-7 and in great shape. Anybody know what a fair honest price to ask for this scope? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! 20200109_160911.jpg

I have heard of them but that's about it. Then I got out my copy of the book; "Old Rifle Scopes", by Nick Stroebel, copyright 2000. Luckily they got covered in his book. IMG_9912.JPG Here's the 3-7x : IMG_9908.JPG .... And some background about them : IMG_9909.JPG ...... The author then gives an estimate of the value on a particular scope, assuming it's in very good working order, and some of the specs for that scope. :... IMG_9910.JPG . Looks like those Pecars are worth more than I thought. Although the book is very informative, and covers a lot of old scopes, You have to take those value estimates with a grain of salt. Some folks won't pay anything for an old scope they probably never heard of, but some folks who are familiar with them may be interested in a "period correct" scope for a rifle from that era, (1959- 1961, according to the author). That book was published 20 years ago so who knows what turns the used scope market has taken since then. It's a cool old scope for sure and according to that book, even Jack O'Connor praised them back in the 1950"s.

Pecar are a quality German scope. That scope would sit very nicely on a German hunting rifle of the same vintage.

Thx, if you know of anyone lookin please let me know ill give em a deal. I dont really have any use for it.

A shooting mate of mine has a Pecar scope with a three dot reticule for shooting on the running moose range. He shoots OK with it but whenever I've tried it my brain cannot decide what dot to use and goes into idiot mode.

Good optics. Short eye relief. The older ones does not have self centering reticle.

They are quality , but don't compare with today's $250 scopes in actual practicality. Does it take 1" rings ? If it takes 26 or 26 1/2 mm rings it is gonna be a hard sell. Punch Pecar Scope into eBay for real world prices.
