Im looking for a handgun sized pelican case that will fit an XD subcompact, 3-4 magazines and maybe a small amount of ammo.

i cant figure out what size is correct, which one is legal for airline travel?

thanks

I'd recommend Storm cases over Pelican. Better latches.
When you say "legal for airline travel" are you talking about carry on size?
Or use for checking firearms? Any size is fine for checking firearms.
Don't put the ammo in the same case. Put your own lock on it. Put it inside another suitcase.
Take a look at -- Cases4less.com -- for pretty good prices. Also check e-bay.
I've bought almost new cases for half price there.

thanks, by legal for airline travel i mean good enough to put inside luggage.

Pelican and Storm will be far better than the minimum requirements. Some say the original hard plastic gun case qualifies, as long as you can lock it, but I wouldn't try it.
Don't use TSA locks, and a cable to the inside of your regular suitcase is a good idea.

I checked the Storm (see the link) IM2100 and it is about 13" x 9" X6" Plenty big.
$68 with the foam.

Or there are smaller.
I have purchased from them and had no problem. I also bought a case off e-bay for half price and it was in the original box and the foam wasn't touched.
