When I shot lead bullets in my 9mm it was a cast 147 gr. using between 3.3 and 3.5 gr. W-231 for velocities of ca. 900fps. I believe that 3.5 gr. W-231 was listed as the maximum load with that bullet in the W-W manual.

A max load of Accurate #2 (4.3gr) will drop the brass literally next to your feet without having any FTE problems. Using a max load of Accurate #5 (5.1gr) will give you firmer recoil but put a good taper crimp on it or you will get powder spray in your face. I also really like Alliants old Bullseye load for 147gr jacketed bullets, it works just as well for lead, of 4.2gr. Good velocity, efficient powder charge, good recoil, no unburned powder spray to the face. Probably my favorite load. It is in their 2004 manual which easy easily downloadable.
