Phase 2 and conclusions (vague) Comparing grapefruit to oranges/Plains Pistol.

I may be wrong, but weren't the original Hawken rifles around 12 pounds? Seems like I remember that Kit Carson's was a 12 pound rifle. Or not? Seems like they had very heavy barrels on them, 1" or more across the flats, and not real big holes in the middle.

Yeah around that but it varied some. The barrels were tapered from 1 1/8 inches at the breech to 1 inch at the muzzle and were normally 33-42 inches long with 36 being the average. There were some barrels that were 1 inch or 1 1/8 that were straight with no taper. Calibers ranged from .50-.69. with .53 being the average. I think 12 pounds was the average weight. I weighed mine once a long time ago and IIRC it weighed 11 pounds. Mine is a .54 and has a 1 inch barrel with no taper. It's a 31 inch Douglas barrel. I wanted a 36 inch but I got such a good deal on it I couldn't pass it up.
