Missed one. Not a lot of birds around anymore. Used to be opeing morning had hunters at every fence line but only saw one group this morning on my way to the farm. My wife's uncle who owned the family farm (owned by family since late 1800's) lost the farm in forclosure becuase he had it as collateral against other loans. New owners declined to let us hunt. Was able to hunt what ground my in-laws still own and the neighboring fields as the owners don't mind. Getting to be I'm now going to have to go to a pheasant ranch to hunt. Guess I should be fortunate I was able to hunt what ground I did. Love the pheasant hunt.

I think I might even go after some this year. Just got a new Mossberg (holds 13 shells) to try to bag a few. Should be able to carry 3 days limit at 4 birds per day.

Got my first pheasant last weekend with my .22. Felt kinda dumb as it is stocked on state land, but the meals were good! I will have to find some private land to hunt...

I'm not too far south of you and I almost got a rooster yesterday. Unfortunately, it was in the middle of town and the weapon would have been the grille of our van. My family further south in utah said that they saw more this year than most recent years, but that's not saying much. What we've been seeing have been many more red foxen than ever before. That may be another hunt worth taking.

ole farmerbuck: With a .22? Around here your meal would come from the county jail shooting a pheasant with anything but a shotgun.

Pheasant falls under small game in my state. I have the abstract in front of me and says nothing of the sort. You did make me nervous for a minute. :D
