Eh, what's the use of a single-action 9mm that you can't carry safely in any condition but unchambered? You take it to the range, and it goes "pop pop pop", standard-pressure loads only. Woo. If you want a relic 9mm, I'd get a Star.

The whole enjoyment factor of a TT-33 is taking it to the range with 7.62x25, and the massive fireblast and BLAM BLAM BLAM! that causes people to come out of other stalls to see what the hell you're shooting. :D

For practical purposes, since it'll defeat anything short of Level III armor and has ballistics closer to a rifle bullet (30 caliber bullet at nearly 1600fps!), it's a good thing to have around, period.

In reply to the poster asking about the Norinco, some of the CommieClone (tm) Toks used to come in a box set with both 7.62x25 and 9mm barrels and magazines, so it should be possible. Good luck finding the parts, though. I don't think any new Norinco-made parts for those can be imported.

It also seems to be an ongoing debate as to whether the Norinco copies are made of a "softer" steel than the original Russian and Polish Toks, particularly that of the slide. I have no idea on that one.

One thing that pissed me off was, a few months ago, I saw in one website, which showed crates and crates of surplus Tokarev being destroyed (I forgot if it was in Russia or China), and yet in this country, we are out of Tokarevs.
In Estonia, 4500 mint TT-s. I mean REAL russians, unfired, in factory package. I'm not proud of it, but these were destroyed since herr H und K demanded it. Plus those 1000 mint russian Makarovs you can see on some pics, again unfired in factory condition. (there have been at least 2 threads on this topic)

Those NIB TT-s run around 100 bucks here, if you "know the right person". Some locals have had experience with Norinco TT-s, they say these wear out pretty fast and are marginal in quality, comparing to real deal.

I bought a WW2 gun 15 years ago for 150, so I think that 330 is not unreasonable. Condition and avaliability have alot to do with the price of any item.

The issue with the 9mm variant it that the difference in bullet weight. You had to use a lot of "Kentucky windage" to get on target. The sights on the gune were designed fot the 86 gain slug.
