I found this new-in-box, unfired (even the tools are unopened) Model 37 at my local gun shop for a great price. It was tagged as being made in 1972, but I think that is a bit older. The serial number is 736JXX (X=omitted numbers). Any help with the date is appreciated. I left my S & W book at the office. The gun is flawless except for some rub marks on the recoil plate from opening and closing the cylinder. It will remain flawless until I lube it, take it to the range and then stick it in my pocket:). I plan to carry it occasionally.

Here are some pictures:

Hey Daisy…how does this Model 37 look?

Shade00,

Please share a picture if you have one. I like guns with "character." I am glad to see the bluing wear off of a gun as I carry it :)

In fact, let's just make this a generic Model 37 thread....post em up. I wouldn't mind seeing one of the new 37s w/o internal lock.

I never turn down an opportunity to post pictures. Here is a picture of my wife's carry choice, the Model 37 (late 50s or early 60s manufacture) and my revolver carry choice, a late 60s Model 60. Both got new fancy Herrett's grips this week. Pretty, eh? Sorry for the picture quality. I'm horrible at taking shots with a flash. If I had some daylight they'd be better.

The Model 60 was kind of an impulse buy a while back. Right price, right time, so I got it. I've really grown fond of it since, and I've always been on a fan of stainless guns. Almost impulse bought a Model 637 not too long ago, but talked myself out of it at the last second.

Mr. Beagle

That's a beauty. How much did you pay for such a find if you don't mind me asking. Always interested in case I run into the same.

Is the model very rare? Or rare NIB?

Love those blue snubs.

I paid $400.00 plus NC sales tax at my favorite gun shop. :)

I don't think that the Model 37 is particularly rare, or at least not any more rare than other similar J-frames.

Shade00 the wait for tee-grips is long. They are worth the wait. If you don't order, time will pass anyway and you still won't have them.

Ahhh! Good on you for waking that shootie bang bang up! I love hearing about folks actually shooting them rather than staring at 'em...though that's ok too. ;)

Regarding the T-grips...I put classic grips and T-grips on all of my carry J-frames. The wait is 3-4 weeks (typically) from Tyler. They make them in batches, all brushed aluminum for a time, then all powder coated, etc... I just keep them coming.

I've only found one J-frame T-grip at a gun show in NC...ordering from Tyler is the way to go. It is still a small family business. The customer service and product have been excellent. If you have to wait...at least it's worth it.

Does Tyler make T grips for L frames? My 586 is great but I feel like the grip could stand to be a little more substantial, otherwise it is perfect, and the grip itself looks great. Are the T grips add-ons to whatever grip you had on before, or are they total replacements?

I've picked up a few T-grips on Ebay. One for my Ruger Speed Six, one for my S&W 681 (K-frame does fit the L-frame, as mentioned above), one for my Colt .357, and one for a Colt D-frame. Guess I just have to bite the bullet and order up for my J-frames.

Pretty gun, and a pretty Beagle too! Don't have a S&W wheelgun anymore, but I do have two sweet Beagle girls!

It's almost to clean to carry. Nice!

I have a 80's 37 looks just like that, thankfully mine has holster wear, so I don't mind carrying it.
