Guys and Girls,

Please post pic of yourself (or others) cammied up.

I am trying to decide on my style of painting, yet I want to make sure I do it correctly. Anyone have any pics available, or know of a website with these pics.

Glockster,
Are you referring to the proper way to apply camo makeup?

If so, go to the Reimer Digital Library and download STP 21-1 SMCT it's all in there. I'll go by the armory and get the URL for you.

Basically to do it right, you don't make tiger stripes or blotches. the idea is to make your face look like something else. Loam on the high spots, forehead, cheekbones, bridge of the nose, chin. Light green on the rest, eyes, hollows of the cheeks, lips etc. That way your face presents sort of a negative image of what it would be uncamouflaged.

HTH

As a general rule: Dark colors for the points that "stick out" like nose, cheekbones, chin, ears. Light colors for sunken areas like your eyes. Don't forget ears and neck. You have to reapply it every day or so, depending on how much you sweat. You can cammo hands too, but I preferred thin gloves.

Jeff White,

Yes I am asking about the correct way. In the Air Force we have our directed way, which is probably similar to the Army and Marine way, but I wanted to see how others do it.

I usually use a tiger stripe method...works well for me and I always get good reviews during exercises for having the best cammo paint.

But I am sure I can improve.

This is me on halloween last year:

That's a Bushmaster :)

This is how I do it. I neglected my hands in this photo (put camo on before chow, medic makes us wash our hands before we eat...), and I didn't go down my neck far enough (durn sagging t-shirt). But, it was enough that the Sergeant Major didn't complain, though he did finally get after us for not wearing our chinstraps properly.

I was never taught any special way of applying camo paint, though the ROTC cadets do go on about applying certain colors to certain parts of your face. Whatever.

It does seem to make my face blend in with the rest of me. So, my face is at least as camouflaged as the rest of my carcass.

Note: Camo paint and glasses don't always go well together.

If applied properly, camo paint will be an absolute ***** to get off, as you'll have covered your ears, neck, face, etc. It gets up in my (fairly thick) eyebrows, for one, and takes a healthy scrubbing to get off.

DO NOT use the Army-issue camo sticks. They're the hardest to get on, the hardest to spread, and they make most people break out. I prefer the cream that comes in the tubes, but most guys have the little compacts.

It tends to come off with sweat (especially if you wipe the sweat from your face).

Here's mine.

Oh, you can't see it b/c it's perfect stealth. It's the "ninja" edge. ;)

Gee Nightcrawler, with that "patch" over your right eye, it reminds me of (and please forgive me) one of those dogs with a white face and dark fur over one eye.

I went to a couple of parties.

In transit I kept it in the trunk, then kept a yellow plastic bolt-blocker in it until I got from the car to the party, and then used an empty 40 round mag for show. I tried to be as cop-friendly as possible.

I did have a full 10 round mag in my pocket just in case.

Most sheeple at the parties had no idea it was a real gun, although a couple did ask and were very suprised at the answer :)

The mask was a 2-piece appliance that glued right to my face.

:what:

That's cool!!!!

If I lived in the United States, I could play like that too....:( :fire: :cuss:

What are the laws in AZ regarding rifles like that in public? Pretty friendly, I assume...

Nightcrawler,

Try rubbing a real thin coat of baby oil on your face before applying a camo stick, it helps it come off. Also, shaving cream and baby wipes are great for taking camo off.

I keep trying to think of Holloween costumes that enable me to go out fully armed without raising too much suspicion.

Well, it wasn't Halloween, but apparently open carry is legal in Texas if you're a fan dressed up as Trinity on opening night of Matrix Reloaded, with dual Berettas in thigh holsters. Now said costumed woman probably wasn't carrying real Berettas, but if they weren't they were quite realistic Airsoft replicas.

Screw that!

I'd be Neo!!!

"Please remove any metallic objects you may be carrying..."

"You mean these?" *Sweeps open coat, revealing a true arsenal strapped to his body*

"HOLY S*%&^!!!!!"

:D :D :D :D

Me getting ready for the March on Bastogne in Jan 2003. Taken at the town plaza before the March began.

I don't have face paint on, but am wearing cammo clothing. I am trying to fix the hat from under my ruck. :neener:
