I'm building a tactical rifle for competition in 7mm mag on a Win Model 70 action that is the no floor plate version. And I'm having a devil of a time finding a pistol-gripped or thumbhole stock for a model 70 blind mag. The first thing I tried was to find a Choate Ultimate Sniper or Varmint stock, and just buy the floor plate hardware and convert it. But no one seems to have the Choate in stock for long action 70s. Are there other options out there for the Model 70?

I have severe tendinitis in my right forearm and I'm going to have to use a pistol grip or thumbhole to have any hope at all of getting good enough to compete.

You can get a hogue overmolded stock that works fine with the magazine you have. I picked up one for an fn pbr xp in 300 wsm for $100 from numrich. Also, CDNN has a stock that will work for you in their overmolded versions and I think one of them has an embedded aluminum pillar block.

CDNN didn't have any thumbhole or pistol grip stocks for the Model 70 when I checked.

On the Boyds ... I think my only option may be to buy a thumbhole and switch to the hinged floor plate. I just hate to have to put more money into. I guess it would still be cheaper and lighter than the Choate Ultimate.

Thanks for the info guys.
