Looking to mount a light on my cz P09. Im going to have PJ make me a holster so I need to select a light .
He suggested i check out Olight. They have the PL- mini for about $80. It is rechargeable, puts out like 400 lumins, and is much smaller than say the streamlight at over $100.

Does anyone have a suggestion I should look at?

As far as flashlight (only) goes, Olight is really tough to beat. I would have a slight preference for the PL-1 as it is a bit cheaper if I had a preference for a light only accessory.

I agree and the PL-1 is attractive for its lower price, while the mini is, well.. mini-er.
I've never had a light or any other accessory mounted to a pistol so its hard to say if the smaller size/weight would be a big deal or not.

How about brightness? Olight has another model that claims like 1200 lumens and 300 yrd beam range. Thats insane! I can't really imagine turning that on in the house without blinding both myself and the BG.

This tech is always improving. I've got a Streamlight TLR1, but it's already getting obsolete, with stuff like the
Olight. I'm just going to hold out till the next time I really need a light, and see what's available, then.

That is the thing. The P-09 is listed online unloaded weight at 31oz. The PL-1 is listed weight as 3.37oz and the Mini is 2.19oz. You are not going to notice the weight of either on an already heavy (by comparison) firearm. Size, cost, batteries, and ease of holsters are the only real comparisons to focus on.

Very true.. the p09 feels like a tank compared to my ccw... albeit a plastic toy tank lol.

I chose the PL mini and ordered my holster and a mag carrier from PJ...and a steel core belt from Daltech. Should be a fun summer ;)

I had an Inforce APLc on my carry gun for a year or so. The weight and size wasn't an issue. I've since stopped carrying it, but it was because the light was junk, not because of the size. Actually, I prefer having a compact light on a carry gun because (besides the obvious benefit of target ID in the dark) it makes for a broader area against my body. More comfortable. I'll be looking for another light soon. Kinda sucks that I have more money in holsters that fit the gun with that light than I spent on the light itself.

I just recieved the pl mini 1. Mounted easily, seems to operate well. The magnetic charger is cool. So far so good.
Compared to my buddies streamlight tlr this light is much smaller. The TLR is like twice the size, extending past the muzzle. The PL mini is tucked back a good 3/4". I like the quick release feature.
Only time will tell how durable it is.

What's the intended purpose? I'd answer differently for a gun that's going to be carried, vs just being on the nightstand, vs being used to search large yards/barns.

Everybody on my SWAT team has a 1500 lumen Surefire Scout mounted on our rifle. We all go lights-ons once we make entry and we all see fine.

I'm a huge fan of Surefire for all my duty and some off-duty guns but I recently added a Streamlight TLR-7 to an off-duty G19 and am pretty happy with the performance and cost. It's got a nice small footprint but still puts out enough light.

The only one I have experience with is the Surefire 300. It's been a great light.

The olight mini seems pretty good. I had a holster made that I'm not terribly impressed with. The weapon hangs up too much even with the screws loosened all the way. Also the holster pushes the slide back a little bit. I'm wondering what to do about that.

I have Olight mini on CZ p01 in HolsterCo light bearing rig and ditto for a Walther PPS .40 . Completely thrilled, they are IWB .
