a taser can cause death. People who are on certain medication, drugs, have heart problems, are in bad physical shape, etc. can surely have cardiac complications. Being tased for a prolonged period of time can also kill someone - even someone in good working order.
Tasers are LESS lethal, not NON-lethal. People get killed with tasers every year. The reason police use them is to appease bleeding heart activist groups who want them to escalate force rather than use the appropriate level of force in the first place, so that they can say; "We tried other means to subdue the suspect before we had to shoot him."
You don't want to call it a deadly weapon? Fine. What's the penalty for torturing someone in Texas? Charge him with that instead. It's got to at least be aggravated assault.
