My comment from another thread("Help me choose a 1911"), I just wanted to see the results in poll format:

"Granted I'm going by the manufacturers MSRP from their websites. The Kimber Custom II Stainless Target and the Sprngfld Armory Loaded Target Stainless are both going for the same price, around $1025.00.
Which pistol is going to be the better "all around" gun.
"All around" being defined as better trigger, better functionality, more accurate, etc."

Both are great guns. I have the Custom II.

I will sometime in the next year have a Springfield but it will most likely be a mil spec.

If you want a gret deal on the Kimber get it from Jim @ Jims Firearms and Shooters Sup, 409-722-4000.

He's a master dealer and has the gun you're looking for for:
STAINLESS CUSTOM II .45 ACP
MANUFACTURER Kimber
CONDITION NIB.
Price: $759.00

Tell him I sent you

Of the two I prefer Kimber. Providing both work out of the box, the Kimber usually has a cleaner trigger, tighter slide to frame fit, feels slightly better in my hand, and shoots a smidge straighter.

Thing is, I'm comparing production guns of equal value... a Loaded vs a Custom II under $1000. If we're talking Custom Shop category, Springfield blows Kimber outta the water.

The Loaded and Custom II will perform VERY similarly. They're both more accurate than the shooter, both great guns... but I'm picky as beans when it comes to 1911s.

Oh, I also noticed "other" on the poll. I won't get into that otherwise I'll go past the allowed characters per post. :D

At the $1000 and below price point the Smith & Wesson SW1911 Target in stainless would be my choice. At the $2000 price point the hand built S&W PC1911 would be my choice. I think that both handily beat the Kimbers and Springers and I own and love my Kimber and my Springer (not the loaded). Saving now for a S&W.

For that money...

...get a S&W. I have both of the guns you mention, and carry a Norinco. Since you can't get a Nork like mine without custom smithing, get a S&W. They run really well, and have many of the features you would find on the SA. S&W fixes it for free for life, as well.

My Springfield Loaded Target shipped today from Mastercampers.com and I can't wait. My friend has one and it feels/shoots great. I paid $800 shipped for it and they've(mastercampers) been great to work with thus far. I let you know how it works out. Should be here Sat. or earley next week.

i say get the sa, i have alot of experience with sa, and i own a sa 1911 which i love. but sa is a great company and i have alot of respect for them and will continue to buy form them they take care of thier customers.

You couldn't go wrong with either, but I think I'd probably take the Springfield for the same reason possum might -- they're a great company and take care of their customers. I am not at all averse to the idea of another Kimber in the safe, though.

The Kimbers are junk and thanks to there fine customer service they will never get my money or any one i work with money ever again, the Springfield armory is a better pistol and will serve you much longer and with better results then the Kimber ever will, besides when you are talking 1911's at this price range jump a little higher get a Wilson CQB and forget the others. i own 39 1911's of all shapes sizes and calibers, and none are the Kimber junk being peddled as quality. sorry for my rant but i depend on my pistol for a living and when one goes bad be fore i get more then 8rdsa through it and the fine customer service people tell me "well you bought it so its your problem now have a good day" that is an exact quoet from the fine people they hire.

Kimbers work well for me. The external extractors were junk though. I don't think you can wrong with either.

In the 'bang for the buck' category, no contest. The Springie is your choice! :D

I voted Springfield, but the truth is they are quite similar. I own and shoot a SA TRP Operator which is outstanding, but it receives a good bit more TLC than the Loaded models. I've heard of fewer people having problems with their Springfields, and SA does indeed have outstanding customer service.
