Wow...grew up less than a mile from there, if that's where I think it is.

Good for him.

Nitwit neighbors ...

About noon, Belcio Rodriguez, 22, arrived at his parents' home across the street from Barone's on Cascadia. He said he lived with his parents in the neighborhood until two years ago and that his family was frightened by the shooting.

``We need more security,'' he said, referring to police patrols.
Rodriguez said the shooting was disturbing, but that people have a right to protect themselves and their property.
How dumb do you have to be to worry about a neighbor successfully defending his family against an intruder, rather than worrying that an intruder might just target YOUR house next?

Moron.

To be fair, it's quite possible that he was disturbed by the invasion itself, not the homeowner's response. If a robbery occurred next door to my apartment, I'd be somewhat upset as well. I'd be pleased to know that the offender's record had officially ceased, but the crime itself would still be unnerving, to have happened in such close proximity to my living quarters.

In fact, I think he's correct to be worried about security, as evidenced by the statement, "people have a right to protect themselves and their property." I wouldn't be surprised if he was a gun-toting fellow like myself.
