i worry about mexican cartels moving into our cities with the guns that they were supplied by our government. :uhoh:

Make sure after you oppose/support you click finish twice. It will bring you to suggested bills to view, and there are a lot of them trying to sneak through that are misrepresented by their title.

Yeah, I've "voted" on every single gun bill on the site. And check it every two days or so.

I just heard about PopVox today....this site is AWESOME!!!!!!

Informed, easy activism just does not get any easier! EVERYONE who cares about their gun rights needs to know about this site.

...Especially since there ain't a thing keeping the "opposition" from using it!

Wow - some anti site must have gotten ahold of that one!

I voted opposition - but its 10:1 for background checks on all sales, banning AR's and 'high' cap mags.

(my bad - this should be in the other popvox thread!)

Just registered and sifted through all the bills and supported/opposed accordingly.

Pretty sweet site, I'll be checking it regularly now.

Just learned about this site. Very handy. Wade through all the categories as there are anti gun bills in more than just the firearms category.

+1 to this tip. There were quite a few more hiding.

JF - I think it's 'rigged' to a degree. The bill (not sure it's really a bill) - is written by a coalition of mayors - my guess is the mayors have all their buddies around sending in responses. I'm hoping by awareness we can set it right.

Take a look at some of the comments.

Be careful...some of the newer bills don't have the bill text attached yet. Don't vote until you can actually read what is being proposed. As mentioned, some of the titles are deliberately misleading, I believe.

Current Popvox list of relevant legislation

Don't just pick a position based on the name. Read the information on the proposed legislation for yourself and look at who supports and opposes it before "voting".

Thanks, hso! I was just wondering if we had a current, up to date list of all pending firearms releated legislation so I could send another round of letters and emails to my congresscritters. :)

BTW, does anyone know how H.R. 21: The NRA Members' Gun Safety Act got its name. Reading the summary of the proposed law (UBC and a nationwide return to "May Issue"), I can't believe the NRA had anything to do with it!

I think a weekly list would be a good idea, but a sticky will fill up week after week and get cluttered.

Refreshed the list so it is current as of 2/2/13 http://www.popvox.com/blog/2013/issue-spotlight-firearms-113th/

These are the bills introduced in the 113th Congress. (Note: Since some of these bills have just been introduced, bill text isn't available yet. It generally takes a few days for the GPO to make the bill text available -- and will be on POPVOX soon.) The new ones are separated from those that have been known for a week. Please do not support or oppose bills just based on their titles. Look a the summary and at the organizations supporting or opposing them.

S 179The Gun Trafficking Prevention Act: A bill to prevent gun trafficking. --Just introduced!--

S 54The Stop Illegal Trafficking in Firearms Act: A bill to increase public safety by punishing and deterring firearms trafficking.
HR 410The Restore the Constitution Act: To provide that any executive action infringing on the Second Amendment has no force or effect, and to prohibit the use of funds for certain purposes.
HR 404The Straw Purchaser Penalty Enhancement Act: To enhance criminal penalties for straw purchasers of firearms.

S 33The High Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act: A bill to prohibit the transfer or possession of large capacity ammunition feeding devices.
S 22 A bill to establish background check procedures for gun shows.
HR 321The Firearm Safety and Public Health Research Act: To amend the Continuing Appropriations Resolution, 2013 (Public Law 112-175) to permit research on firearms safety and gun violence.

HR 236The Crackdown on Deadbeat Gun Dealers Act: To ensure greater accountability by licensed firearms dealers.
HR 227The Buyback our Safety Act: To establish a gun buyback grant program.

HR 117The Handgun Licensing and Registration Act: To provide for the mandatory licensing and registration of handguns.
Please keep in mind that highlighting a bill doesn't imply a POPVOX endorsement in any way. Rather, we're simply trying to offer one more way to stay informed of an overwhelmingly complex legislative system.
