I recently found some affordable Portuguese FNM '72 stamped 5.56x45mm ammo.
It is 55 grain FMJ, but i'm not sure if it is M193 spec or not. It has green lacquer on the primer.

Anyone know if it is particularly hot and/or accurate 5.56 surplus? Or if its M193 spec? At the least, is it safe to shoot?

Haven't had any of the 5.56, but I've shot piles of FNM 8mm and 7.92 without issue. It was high quality stuff.

If you get a good price on this ammo, buy all that you can find...

It is great ammo and, when I last chronographed some in the eighties, was very close to the M193 LC75 that I checked at the same time.

It's boxer primed and non-corrosive, and the brass is great stuff too...

I haven't seen that stuff around in years, it is good ammo.

Is this a new release, or have you just found some being re-sold?
