Does anyone else still use powder dippers?
I still do. I like to keep things simple.
Of course, leave it to me to break even the simplest of tools......

Of course, it was my most used dipper too, the 1cc.(.45colt/unique)
Has anyone found a better set of dippers than this plastic Lee brand?
This set skips from .7cc to 1cc to 1.3cc. I would like to find a set that doesnt skip .8 and .9 15556257559088788837275560630342.jpg
Temporary fix.

great idea on the broken dipper, i use them every time i reload to dump 99% of the powder in the pan. i will use them for loads to, and have good accuracy with them. one load with my ruger 7x57 with the dipper was 3 shot group of .150 and a load in my 7wsm of .210 3 shot. they can be very accurate so long you are consistent. lee did make them in the old days from metal, check Ebay. i made custom ones from pistol cases.

I use dippers to get the powder charge close then finish with a powder trickler.

That's what I do. I waited 20 odd years to spend the stupid $7 on a set of dippers... I'm such a retard. Beforehand I was using a 1/2 TSP measuring spoon and shoveled it into the pan. I got pretty quick with it, but usually made a mess, particularly shoveling big charges of IMR sticks. No problemo with the dippers....

I could make them, at least for the ones I want.
Antler handle, engraved cc volume.

Armored, if you are trying to make a custom size, you could take a bigger volume dipper you don't use, fill it with something (JB Weld?) that you could adjust to get it to drop the weight you wanted. For that matter, even something as simple as a screw threaded up into the bottom of it.

Yeppers. As a matter of fact, I have two sets of Lee dippers. My original "red" set is the way it came from the factory. However, I purchased a "yellow" set 12 or 15 years back that I've taken my pocket knife to several of the dippers, cutting them down until they dipped just the right amount of specific powders to match several of my favorite handgun loads. Then I taped my own "chart" to the chart that came with the dipper set.
I've also made a few dippers by soldering handles to empty cases, then putting epoxy in the cases until they held the "perfect" charges of powder. That's more work than just taking my pocket knife to a few cheap Lee dippers. And I'm basically lazy.:D

I use nothing but lee dies for pistol and some rifle and dippers scare me. My buddy uses them and loaded some 45lc about 12-13yrs ago and every one of these cases he fired cracked! Before I knew squat about reloading I said those are overpressure and going to hurt someone. He said it was fine it was old brass and an old gun. I have a Lee powder drop and adjust it to dead on what I want to load and its dead on each time.

I use dippers for plinker 38 special. They are minute of pop can.
I was going to suggest a cartridge and baling wire, but jmorris even had a picture.

I use dippers as a scoop... not as a measuring tool. That's what I have a scale for. If I'm going to rely on volumetric measurements, I'm going to use a volumetric machine (powder dispenser/thrower). We ain't baking cookies here.

What does the dippers have to do with over pressure loads? Why do dippers scare you? In most cases dippers are the most accurate and safest method of metering powders.
