Why is a PPK not considered a mousegun or even a ratgun?
How many rounds can go through them without a major replacement of parts (Ruger MK3 50k+ still fine, or a Roughbough or whatever they are called saying to replace the spring every 250 rounds)

I understand this is one of the most famous firearms ever made due to James Bond and all, but any feedback?

IMHO PPKs are well built. You can put many, many rounds through them. Some people have problem with jams; my friend and I have not.

As far as mouseguns go, I don't believe it's the caliber that determines it; usually it's the size of the gun itself. The Ruger LCP is a mousegun. I think palm-size and smaller guns are considered mouseguns.

Hmmm - I dunno though. The LCP is a clone of the Kel-Tec P3AT - and I remember someone here saying that he didn't include the P3AT on a "which mousegun" poll because of the caliber.

This is one of those terms that I'd imagine we'd have to ask the guy who coined it for the "correct" definition. :p

Either definition we use though, PPK =\= mousegun! :D

I've never shot a PPK. I REALLY wanted one 'back in the day' (yeah, I WAS a huge 007 fan ;) ), but instead chose a quality "clone" - a Bersa Thunder .380.

I love my Bersa, and the only trouble I had with it was when I tried to use some Wolf ammo in it. Jam-o-matic!

I know the Thunder's grips are larger than the PPKs, but I REALLY have to stretch the meaning to even call the Thunder a "pocket pistol" when I'm wearing jeans...

mouse guns are generaly something you can conceal n you hand and can carry in your pocket. again, theres no specific criteria. while my 1903 is .32 its not a mouse gun. a davis .380 or a AMT backup .45 would be to me.

theres some derringers running 45lC or even 45-70 that are mouse guns

PPK PPK/S are nice pocket pistols. I am not a fan of the S&W But my Interarms provided me years of relieable service and is still carried to this day just not as much

Did someone call me, "Bond, James Bond....." Damn, I love that line at the start of each movie....:D Interarms PPK in a .380....Thinking in a genus, probably more like a "Muskrat"....

I have thousands of rounds through my PPK (not/s) and have not had to replace a thing. It is totally reliable. I bought a Ruger LCP because it was smaller than the PPK, and carried it for a while. But I have gone back to my PPK, because believe it or not, it is more concealable (at least for me) than the LCP.

It's been my experience that people are a little impatient with these guns. My father had an Interarms PPK/s. He told me that just about everybody he knew advised him to put 500 rounds through it for break-in. He never carried it, so it was never a priority with him. And it never ran smoothly. Later, his priorties changed and he decided to sell the gun. I bought it from him. I finished up the 500 and somewhere between 500 and 600, it started running reliably. I traded it back to him last year for something else. He got bit by the PPK bug again. I'd like to get another if I manage to run across a nice one.

I would consider .32acp and smaller a mouse gun. I think the term applies more to the caliber than the size but that's just my opinion.

I certainly wouldn't call a .45acp warthog a mouse gun even though it is almost the same size as a PPK (only fatter).

A Mousegun is determined by size which since it is so diminutive it chambers the smaller calibers. A PPK is a pocketgun where something like a Baby Browning is a true mousegun.

I wouldn't carry my PPK/S in my pocket. To heavy to do that for me.

IWB all the way. No pocket= no mouse gun... To me!

I wouldn't carry my PPK/S in my pocket. To heavy to do that for me.

People carried PPK and PPK/S in their pockets for years Same with J frame S&W . Though nothing of it Till these lite frame pistols appeared. Not their 2 heavy. I take a few more oz. Less felt recoil and better on rapid fire. Just use a good pocket holster.
Pocket carried my PPK/S stainless for years still do now and then

The PPK is too heavy, too big overall, and sports too much caliber to be a true mouse gun. The tiny little .25 caliber Walther Modell 9 is a mouse gun. You can make the argument that the PPK is a pocket gun, but I'd contend that it's too heavy even for that. I carry a PPK/S daily and both love it and trust it, but I wouldn't say that it's a mouse or a pocket gun.
