An attack on state preemption is also part of Gov. Northam's antigun plan in Virginia. This is being promoted as allowing municipalities to bar guns in public buildings, but it would be much more far-reaching than that. Local jurisdictions could enact all sorts of antigun ordinances. I remember what it was like before state preemption. Localities such as Alexandria, Arlington, etc., had waiting periods for handgun purchases (for example). This made it impossible to hold gun shows in those localities. (And remember, this was before the current antigun hysteria.)

Today, a repeal of state preemption would be followed almost immediately by local AWB's in most of northern Virginia. Northern Virginia would quickly become an extension of Maryland in regard to gun laws.

Folks,

This isn't the place for complaining.

Present a plan of action and save the grumbling and hand-wringing for General.

If your post was pruned come up with something constructive that might help counter the threat in FL.

It is a shame that somebody felt that my earlier post here pointing out the absurdity of altering the pre-emption laws wasn't a worthy comment. What I forgot to add was that Florida isn't the only place this is happening.

William Lacy Clay, a U.S. rep from St. Louis, is proposing a federal law that would allow this invisible fragmentation across the nation.

And the Chicago area legislators are also trying to get the Illinois General Assembly to pass similar legislation. The problem there is that the "donkeys" are in control of both houses and the governor's mansion so there is little likelihood of voting them out here.

How to stop this insanity? Short answer - vote them out. Will that succeed? Unlikely esp. in Illinois with that "triple majority". The politicians will be able to pass these onerous schemes that may take decades for the courts to reverse. But that might be our only recourse, esp. if President Trump isn't re-elected in 2020.

The gun grabber crowd have adjusted their tactics again. They know that there is a President not on their side and the Congress is divided, nothing is going to happen there, we still "control" the Senate. They have gone to the State and local level approach, again. Please call, write email your local and State reps on any 2nd amendment issues.
