Do an ebay search for "range box", "Pachmayr box", you'll see prices from 85$ to $400. All types new and old. There are several newer metal Hyscore brand boxes as well.

I wonder - is there much demand for these things?
Looking at the pictures here - a box like that would be nothing but an hour or so to make & probably under $100 in materials.
A guy with a table saw & router could pick up some easy new gun/ammo funds.
I'm going to have to look into this a little more. If not for me, for my grand kids.

Hard for me to gauge demand. As I said previously I only ever see the Pachmayr boxes very infrequently and only one older gentleman consistently shows up with his for range work.
This box isn’t for the casual shooter that shows up with a sleeve of .22’s and a Ruger Mark whatever.
For me it works because I have it set up for evaluating handgun reloads. Because that’s all revolver work I haven’t ever put the spotting scope on the box lid mount and find a set of Binocs works better at the ranges I shoot at (50 yards and below).
Again... overall weight is a concern. 2 RedHawks and a GP100 plus 2-3 boxes of ammo added to the base weight will definitely be noted. For me that’s not an issue.
Couple of other points. I like my range bags and still use them. But to get items out of them I’m usually standing up off the seat at the bench. The box gives me instant line of sight access without having to stand up and rummage through the bag.
Probably the biggest plus for this box for me: it acts as a barricade and sound dampener between myself and the shooter sitting next to me (two shooters per bench). If I have a semi auto guy next to me and the range brass nets are all in use and as a result they’re shooting without one I can move the box to deflect the brass as well as the sound signature of a short barreled AR etc.
Cant tell you what a difference it makes sometimes in the shooting /range experience to have that option.

I shoot a lot of BP...I suppose it would work fine for that as well. Certainly would keep the accouterments organized and handy.

Sparkyv...was originally looking for a vintage Baush and Lomb straight tube to go with box. Couldn't find one in my local area and settled on the Celestron. Reasonable price for the performance level and it was the right size and weight for what I was looking for. Plus I can close the lid without having to remove it from the mount. But, as it worked out I don't use it and decided to go (for now) with a set of either Steiner or Nikon binocs I have on hand. Might revisit that vintage scope search sometime in the future.
I have two of the pachmeyer 5 gun cases from the 70's/80's mine and my dad's...I used mine in bullseye and would carry it full... open sight/dot ceneterfire/rim fire and an oddball here n there... as I got older I tend to carry one gun and a pairof binoculars for the last leagues I shot... they do get heavy... the gun vices do make good storage in the safe though

One thing not mentioned is that in bullseye competitions shooters don't often get much space on the firing line and also often not much time to repeatedly get set up and then take it down for each relay in order to make room for numerous squads of entries. Crowding and time limits make such a box a life saver, or at least a score saver.
my box from my 1976 - 1982 bullseye days. Old-Timer? Half dead is more like it.
