I found posts from 2008 in search suggesting this is a good book. Just what I think I'm looking for. Gadzooks they're now $79.99-$315.32, used only, from Amazon or Abe. Any recommendations for other texts on precision handloading? Methods and techniques rather than load tables. Or is this the book? I'm at .46 moa with my stock 700 VLS .308 and would like to know how I got there.

Lyman’s long range book has some good stuff in it(besides the data and tables). There is another I was going to mention, and…. Do you think I can remember it now?!!!

I subscribed to Precision Shooting from about 1999 until the end. Mr. Brennen sent me a reimbursement when my renewal check and the folding up of a much missed resource coincided. I still miss P.S.. Luckily, there is a growing collection of scanned and archived copies of P.S going back to 1956 - my birth year.

I have one other PS book, "Precision Shooting with the M1 Garand" (somewhat of an oxymoron:)). Its a collection of articles published in the mag over the years. I expect the handloading book will be much the same, kind of disjointed but you'll probably find a nugget from time to time. PS was a great magazine!

Thank you fellas for the help. Brennan's text for $45 is definitely tempting but I'm fascinated with the archived Precision Shooting issues that @catspaw supplied the link for in post #3. I'm starting from 1956 when .222 dominated the matches, ball powder was new and suspect, and Forster advertised the outside neck turning accessory for its case trimmer. Like a good book, it's tempting to skip ahead to later issues but I plan to work from the beginning. What a great resource indeed.
