Pristine yugo sks with bayonette and grenade launcher. Wood looks bare, but it also looks like it had never been finished, no dings etc. Cherry was on the barrel. Shop claims it was never issued. Am I really to believe that this sks would be worth 450 in the current environment or am I right and think this might be about 150 too high here.

Worth? I think it would depend on who was buying it, right?

A shooter would probably remember very nice SKS rifles at $250 - $300 last year. But this sounds like a collector item, in which case you'd have to ask a collector or check the price guides.

Why a collector piece? I saw a nice yugo @ dunhams that was pristine for $250 3 days ago. Looked brand new besides the cosmoline caked on and in it!

I think $450 is WAY too much to pay for an SKS even in todays market. Think if it this way, for $45 more you could get a Field Grade M1 Garand from CMP. It wouldn't take me long to make a choice between the two.

Davandron,
Unfired Yugos or just sks's? I'm not looking for another right now, but was wondering if the market has gotten so bad that a yugo could go for that much.

Soldier,
I opened the chamber on these (there were 2) and there was 0 cosmo on them. They looked like they were cleaned very well.

Local shop near me has $450.00 on the tags on the ones like you described (might be the same shop for all I know). They were also marked "unissued." Judging by the fact they had couple dozen a few weeks ago, and about two, maybe, three, the last time I was in there, I'd say, Yes. That's what they're going for today. Are they "worth" it? Someone must think so.

$450!:what:

Sorry if I walked into a gunshop and saw a Yugo SKS with a $450 price tag I would laugh and walk away. That's a ridiculous price in my opinion, I'd be reluctant to pay half that for one of those. Sorry I'm not getting suckered into these ban scare prices.

You wouldn't be talking about greentop would you?

That's the place. They had a full rack of those a few weeks ago. There were only a couple left the last time I went that far back. (I usually stop at the 22 rack.) They were really nice looking Yugo's. The stocks were plain as a 2x4, but not a scratch on them.

I think the last time I got a sales flyer from Southern Ohio Guns, their top SKS's were something like $350.00 or so. By the time you add shipping and and FFL fee to that, you're not that far from $450.00.

I got mine on my C&R a year or so ago. Everyone said the $180.00 (for hand picked) I paid for them back then was too much, too.
