I'm contemplating selling off my .380 Makarov. I haven't shot it in 5 years or more, and I want to fund a copy of Ruger's new popgun.

The full kit: gun (standard capacity .380 Makarov with black Baikal grip, blue finish with the usual adjustable rear sight), 2 magazines, holster, cleaning rod and T tool, original manual and box (complete with original price tag of $340. No, I didn't pay that. :) ), extra (Wolff) spring. KBI import. Good shape but defiantly not LNIB.

I also have the Makarov.com rear sight replacement (from the first run that they made) that I'll probably try to sell off separately.

Any idea what I should be expecting to get for this?

IIRC, the adjustable sight was only on the East German Maks, and parts for it are no longer available. If your spare is the same, might be good to include it as a "value pak".

They are definitely not on EGs.

I have a Russian .380 commercial Baikal Mak with adjustable sights. I believe they are just on the various Russian commerical models in either 9x18 and .380.

Can't help on value. I "stole" the above mentioned .380 last September or so for $125, brand spanking new in the box. Some fella had it on consignment at a gun shop, weeding out his collection. He must not have kept up with values.

Nope, the Russian commercial Maks. Makarov.com has some sight parts, I think.

Well, if you get someone who knows what they're looking at (which is to say one of the most reliable pistols ever made), then I'd say you could expect at least $300.00 for the package, so long as the gun doesn't have any big dings or idiot marks on it. I know I'd pay that much for it. Makarovs seem to be getting scarce, at least in my neck of the woods.

But a "non-gunnie" who is only acquainted with Glocks, Sigs, Ruger, etc. might be a hard sell when it comes to paying full value for an "obscure" brand of gun. Sheesh, I've had gun shop employees tell me they hadn't heard of Kahr Arms before! These are folks "in the business", never mind your average Tom, Dick or Harry off the street :uhoh:.

So I'd try to find a buyer who is knowledgeable about Maks. They do have a following, to be sure, if you can connect with them.

Thank you. That's what I'm trying to gauge.

You would, huh....? :D

Budget's tight, what with everything, but I'm going to try to swing what I want (plus newly increased range dues -- grrrr) without selling. I'd really like to keep a spare Mak around.

Got a similar package in 2005 for $168. It depends but I'd say your gun is around low $200's in price. Lower is a good deal, closer to $300 will take a while to sell.
