Mods...if this is placed in the wrong venue, kindly move to wherever you feel it is appropriate.

I have a chance to pick up a S&W Model 51, no dash. Adj. sights and 3.5 inch bb. It has seen very little use, I call it an easy 95 percent gun. A little holster wear on the blue at the muzzle, and light marks on the cylinder from rotation. It has factory wood grips plus a set of Pachmayers. Obviously in .22 M.R.F. Realistically, what is this gun worth? I intend to keep this one in my collection if I end up with it, but would be interested in its retail value as well. I have checked GB, etc. but also understand that pricing structure there can be...well...optimistic at times. What would those of you in the know pay if you were buying it for yourself? Thanks in advance!

Model 51's come along few & far between.

If I really had to have one, and found one?

I don't think $500+ would be unreasonable.
Maybe even more lately, as I haven't seen one for sale around here for a few years, and I think it was $500 then when Model 34's were still $350 or so.

Thanks RC.

There was a time I wanted one more than anything, and could not find one. Fast forward 15 years and this one kind of stumbled into my life. I intend to own it if the seller and I can come to terms. I can have it today for $750 cash, but I own a certain non gun item that the owner is interested in trading for. Either way I have first right of refusal and he is not actively advertising to get rid of it. So, waiting for him to decide which direction he wants to go, and hopefully to soften up a little if we do a money deal.
