I am looking at at trade for a ,Taurus/Rossi 92 357mag, 24" oct barre., case hardened reciever. Excellent cond.and would like to know value.
I am a little confused on these rifles as far as who owns who and where manufactured, Brazil vs Italy, etc. Thanks

Rossi of Brazil made the Legacy Sports Puma, the EMF, and the Navy Arms 1892s. Recently Legacy started importing 1892s made by Chiappa in Italy.

Where does the "Taurus" Rossi fit into the mix.? And are they the same value as a EMF, Rossi Puma? I believe the 92's from Italy manufactured by Chiappa are more expensive.?

The Rossi 92s have been made in Brazil for many years. They are imported into the US for many different companies but they are all really the same gun. I believe a 92 like you describe to be worth about $350 give or take a little. If Rossi is the only marking whatsover, I believe it might be worth a little more. My experience is that the 92s just don't have a lot of resale or trade value when compared to the 94s made by Marlin or Winchester. Still, I believe, the 1892 is the very best levergun ever made and that the Italian/Brazillian clones do the original design justice. They are easy to slick-up for cowboy shooting, feed every time, and are dead-on target.

Taurus manufactures the Rossi revolvers under contract, but I don't believe they have any connection to the Rossi 1892s. I also think that $350 for a 1892 in nice condition is about right.

Taurus owns Rossi outright. The Rossi factory still makes their own revolvers. Taurus has a Rossi page on their site.

Well, I gave 200 bucks for mine spanking new in the mid 80s, so I guess it wasn't a BAD investment. I wish I'd bought a boat load of 'em instead of mutual funds.

BTW, never used him, but this guy is supposed to be good if you're competing with that 92. http://www.stevesgunz.com/

No I am not, I just have an AR upper that I mam trying to trade or sell and the 92 looked attractive. I guess he sold it for 540.00 and I still have my upper.
