Guys. Shooting a CZ 550 Varmint rifle, which is a real sweetheart, quite accurate with a healthy charge of RL 15 and 175 grain Sierras, Lapua standard large primer brass, and CCI standard large rifle primers.
A couple years ago I purchased some small primer Lapua brass to experiment with. Couple weeks ago, I tried it out. Duplicating the dimensions and powder charge I use in large primer brass I observed primer cratering in the CCI BR4 primers I tried.
I doubt that it is a pressure issue which caused the cratering, as the large primers exhibit none, but suspect instead that the firing pin might need to be bushed, as I have read elsewhere on the 'net. Gre Tan does bushing of firing pins, but declined to do so on the CZ saying that the bolt face is hardened.
Thought I would solicit input from you fellas.
Thanks in advance for helpful input.
