So, I am looking for a set of quality electronic hearing protection. The kind that lets you hear normal conversation during a course of fire and doesn't just cut out when there is loud noise. I have used the Pro Ears Gold earmuffs that a friend has and they were awesome. I would have already bought a pair of Them except that when I am shooting a rifle, the stock typically pushes earmuffs up and may break the seal. Because of this, I usually wear ear plugs (Howard Leight "Max" 32db) so when I saw the pair above on Midway, I was excited. But there are no reviews on Midway or anywhere else that I can find. Has anyone here tried these? Do they work as advertised?

I wish there was a way for me to try them. I have a set of Pro Ears Tac Gold muffs and love them, but yeah, they're huge.

That's a good price, but note that you only get one and not a pair. I'd been looking at the Pro Hear IV one day on the Pro Ears site when I suddenly realized that each one was $549. Even if they have another 25% off sale, it's too much for me to buy 2. Maybe I'll buy one and keep using a plain plug on the other side.

No

I recommend anyone use high NRR/SNR rated ear plugs under a quality electronic muff since this provides the best combination of protection, sound quality, and price. It is far easier to produce a quality system in muffs than it is in a plug and therefore less expensive to get a reliable good quality muff.
