Pro Gun Coffee

When I want to support the Second Amendment I buy a gun or ammo, not coffee. Or I donate to the NRA. When I want to buy coffee I go to the grocery.

I’m all for supporting veteran owned businesses, but not by paying 2X for commodity goods. Fancy designer coffee isn’t my thing no matter who is selling it. Not trying to be a jerk, but sell me something I actually want and I’ll happily support you. Like maybe Black Rifle Ammo Company...

It's not paying twice as much for commodity goods. BRC probably is considered expensive compared to some of the standard brands out there, but have you checked the prices of a lot of the other "artisanal," "boutique," "specialty," or "premium" coffee products out there? Frankly, I'll happily pay a bit more for something I know I'll enjoy consuming, especially knowing that I'm giving my money to a company that shares more of my social, political and religious views than, say ... Starbucks.

If one actually prefers Folgers or Great Value coffee (though I don't know how folks drink that swill), fine. But to throw around accusations such as "wrapping one's self in his DD-214" to extract more money for his product isn't what it's all about.

Exactly. They aren’t going after the Folgers drinker market. They are giving us that like better coffee on occasion an option besides some liberals who hate us.
I like having some nicer coffee for Saturday and Sunday morning. Just drink a pot of Folgers during the week. Silencer is much better than the Duncan doughnuts I had last for my “premium coffee morning”.

My order just came in, and the Thin Blue Line coffee is by far the best coffee I've had. I'll try the espresso blend in the morning, but I'll be ordering from them regularly. As I stated and other have stated, this is about more than coffee, which is not THR material. It's about having an option to anti's such as Starbucks, and not funding their efforts to take away our 2A rights.

I quit them because I hate their overroasted coffee. The fact their politics are equally repellant is a nice bonus.
It has burnt taste. Hate their coffee. Dunkin Donuts has better coffee. They say Waffle House is good but I have never entered one. The worst coffe i tried was at Burger King about 20 years ago not sure how it is now.

My metal double wall BRC mug is made in China, but made very, very well. Much like buying a current model laptop, iPad, smart phone, etc.

They can make very good stuff. In about 20 years they will be number one superpower in the world.

Couple of years ago I bought thermos on sale at Walmart. It is very nice and withstood almost daily use and still going strong. Chinese make very nice stainless thermos bottles. I don't see need to line someone else's pockets as with money saved can donate to any organization of my choice.

Was your thermos made by Stanley ? What's your point ?

Lets get back to something that sort of, maybe, kinda resembles guns...

Does anyone here know what support BRCC gives to pro-gun causes?

I read somewhere they give a percent to veteran causes. Do they do the same for 2A?

They state on the side of their coffee bag that a portion of their profits go to support veteran, LEO and gun rights organizations, so yes, they do support 2A organizations.

Well this bashing of BRCC has helped me with some of my Christmas shopping. Daughter #1 and her hubby both like the good strong coffee so this will be a great gift for them. (This is the kid that wants one of my AR's and has claimed all of my guns after I die. She is the same one that like shooting up vehicles 1/2 mile away with the 50 BMG when she was in the Army). I just have to decide on whether to get a sampler pack or the ammo can filled with several big bags. I know they will love the ammo can.

Son #1 and his wife drink the syrup stuff. Son surprises me because he always has drank those high energy drinks. I am going to have to work on them getting a real coffee machine. (A added bonus is his mother-in-law is very, very anti-gun. I am already planning on stressing her out by buying NRA Membership for him as a gift for his birthday. I would love to see her reaction when she sees a copy of The American Rifleman magazine laying out and then finds out her coffee came from a bag with a picture of a AR-15 on it. Who says you can't have fun with Liberals?)

For the last ten years, I've bought from a local roaster and have become a huge coffee snob. They sell for $10/lb and it's utterly perfect.

I'll have to try the BRCC coffee, if for no other reason than to give them a fair shot. Some great reviews here, but there is no accounting for taste. What one person loves, another can't stand and vice versa.

And I despise Starbucks. They simply don't do their coffee right. It always tastes wrong.

I just stocked up so when I'm ready to get more coffee, I'll order a bag from BRCC and report back..........

You have an overly sensitive definition of “bashing” if you think that’s what my post was.

Tad pricey for everyday

I tend to agree. While I like me coffee, the water it's made with and how it is made has almost as much affect on taste as brand/type. I look at coffee like I do whiskey, beer and meat. What whiskey I prefer for sippin' is generally much more expensive than what I mix with coke, and I don't need expensive sippin' whiskey every time I drink whiskey. While I like some of those new craft beers on the market, when I get home from work or finish mowing the lawn, a good ol' High Life is all I need to quench my thirst for beer. Come supper time, I don't need a Tomahawk Rib-eye everytime I sit down, sometimes a burger or brat done on the grill, that costs a fifth as much tastes just as good. I will probably try some of this new coffee, but it won't be my everyday, first cup of the morning, fill my thermos coffee. As for some of it being marketing.....really guys, get real. It's all about the marketing and profit. Using a Brand name that identifies pro-gun advocacy(OMG, with everything else tactical, now we have a tactical coffee?) and emblems and using tactical/pro-gun names for it's different varieties is definitely aimed towards a niche market. While the small percentage of profit given to the vets is a nice thing, the overall profit generated be folks willing to pay a higher price for it overcomes any loss. One of those, "makes me feel good" things, if it makes you feel good and justifies the extra cost to you, go for it. The beans are strictly Colombian and Brazilian.......nuttin' special, nuttin' different than most shelf brands(including Great Value). It's the climate and dirt the coffee is grown in and the mutations that the plants have made to them, that affects the flavor, the most along with the care taken to process. The being ground fresh makes a big difference, and hopefully , their bean buyers are more selective than those who do buying for generic brands. I certainly am not trashing BRC, and won't make any assumptions on it's quality until I taste it. But for it's price, it would need to be pretty dam good for me to justify it. I already donate to veteran charities and pro-gun programs regularly. I don't pay big monies for a t-shirt with HD on it and I certainly ain't gonna pay thru the nose for a cup/thermos to advertise for BRC. Others are free to do as they please tho. One only has to go to a biker bar on any given Saturday and see there are plenty of others that do.
