I have a mossberg 835 Tactical Turkey. I think the 835 and 500 share many accessories. I want to know if mag tube extensions for the 500 will work on the 835 Tactical Turkey. I am going to use this for turkey hunting as well as HD and want to add capacity to the 5 it currently holds and 5 in the side saddle. Also, does anyone make a camo mag extension to match the finish on the gun? Not a big deal but it would be nice.

There are no mag tubes for the model 500 because the basic model 500 is not capable of accepting a tube ext. The new Mossberg 500 Tactical Breacher Cruiser shotguns can because they have a 590 mag tube type setup. The 835 has the same type of mag tube setup as the 590.

All that aside, Choate makes a tube extension for your 835. A +2 and +3 extension.

Thanks. I was assuming the 500 had pretty much all the standard accessories. Thanks for straightening me up.

Sweet, I did not know this either. I assumed that I could not increase the capacity of my 835. I'll be ordering one of these pretty soon, along with a sling swivel clamp.

I have been a Remington 870 owner and user for many years, however being left-handed, I find the safety and slide release on the Mossberg shotguns easier to operate. I have a basic M-835 with a 26" barrel that I primarily use for duck & goose hunting. I want to convert it for HD, so I am going to outfit it with a few accessories for that purpose.

I was able to score a factory 18.5", 835 barrel with a 3-1/2" chamber for it from a seller on GunBroker for $80.00. These are not listed anywhere on Mossberg's website, but I guess they did make them at one time. The barrel is brand new, but the packaging seems old, so I don't know how long this had been sitting around the seller's shop. The barrel is actually a straight cylinder bore (No removable choke tube). The finish is blued and not matte blue like the standard M-835.

My plan is to add a mag extension, sling, heat shield, "Cruiser" style fore end, side saddle and possibly a set of ghost ring sights as time and money will allow. I will post pics as I go.

This is the "Before" pic:

And this is how she looks with the new barrel installed:

When I swapped out the barrels, I also removed the magazine plug, so now she will handle (5+1) 2-3/4" or 3" shells or (4+1) 3-1/2" shells.......
