I had night sights installed on one of my pistols. I took it to the range & found it shot a hair to the left. Went back to the shop & had them adjust it a little bit..anyway, I've done this a few times to where the rear sight is almost all the way to one side & it is still shooting a tad left. Now when the gun had its stock sights, I was dead on & now if I shoot a similar pistol, it is dead on.
What can I do to fix? Do I need a different rear sight?

Does the front sight look centered or is it a bit to the right?

I was once shooting my Hi-Power and was seeing groups to the left of the bull. I looked and the rear sight was centered. When I got home, I took a look at the gun and found the front sight had drifted it's way over to the right where it was overhanging the dovetail a bit. I dimpled it and put it back and amazingly, the gun shot true again. :)

Groups do not respond to sight change..

Judging from the number of your posts, I 'spect you have been abound the block a few times on THR.

This may be presumptious of me, but I'd look elsewhere other than the sights for the problem. Maybe the installer let the barrel fall off the bench and altered the crown?

salty.

Ive seen slides where the machining of the interior had the barrel shooting a full foot left at 50'. Its certainly possible, so heres what I would do: Have someone else shoot the gun to make sure its not you. Bring a brass drift and hammer with you to the range and get it dialed in. Its not unusual to have the sight to the left or right of where it would center cosmetically. Its more important to shoot to point of aim than to have a centered sight.

Yeah, the front sight is perfectly centered (we measured it). What troubles me is that it was dead on w/ the stock sights & I'm dead on when shooting a similar rental gun at the range.
Now, I was thinking it was the sights, but I've bought a few sets of these sights for other pistols in the past & this is the first time I've had any kind of issue w/ them :banghead:

Put the stock sights back on. If it shoots way off now, you know something happened to the gun while it was being worked on. Odd things can happen. I have even seen barrels get slightly bent somehow. Of course, no one will admit to anything. I have felt the same kind of frustration:banghead:
You could also use one of the laser bore sighters and see what that tells you. As previously suggested by SaltyDog, a small ding in the end of the barrel can cause things to go off. If it shoots way off from where the laser points, check over the barrel verrrrry carefully.
