Hi,

I got a Ruger MArk II Comp target. the sights that came on it are pretty crap and are constucted for competition shooting where you aim under the target to hit center.
I thought about shooting in a more dynamic competition form where sights are best centered. Unfourtunately once I had the sight base/blade as low as it goes I was still an inch and a half short of center from the distance I shoot.
My current front sight is quite high so changing it for a higher one might be hard if I even could find one that fits as my barrel has been cut down to 6 inches in accordance with local regulations.
So I suppose getting a new rear sight that has a lower profile is the way to go. Im very limited in my options since I live in Sweden. This is pretty much it:

Now for my question. I cant tell the total height (Lower base to top of notch) of this model so I cant calculate if it is lower than my current one. Just by looking at it I think it should be a little lower but I was wondering if anyone have this sight and could meassure its total height?

This may sound a bit brutal, but have you considered milling down your rear sight blade slightly? That's a cheap and easy way to circumvent running out of adjustment on iron sights.

This is precisely why humans invented files. Lowering the rear sight will lower the point of impact. You need to lower the front sight blade to raise the point of impact.

Just go very slowly and take off a little bit at a time from the front sight and keep checking your point of impact on paper. A little goes a long way. I have had to do this to a number of Ruger MK. pistols.

The way I understand this, he needs to lower the impact, not remove front sight height to raise it. If you have access to anyone with a tig welder, just add a little bit to the top of the front sight, square it away with a file and your problem will be solved. Not a big deal....

I addded a bit of heigth to a front sight with black glass bedding compound. Held up well.
