I have a arsenal AK thats was bought new and the front sight is slightly off. I bought the sight tool to adjust it to the left and it doesnt really work. I crank down on the vice too and it doesn't seem to budge and the point of aim never changes. Are there any tricks I should be aware of when doing this? It's a new gun but I didnt think a pin would be pressed in that tight.

Make sure the adjuster's puch-rod is pushing only on the sight's cross bar, and that the cross bar isn't being blocked at the other end, i.e. so there is no interference, then just crank harder. You can use some anhydrous lanolin (a very good temporary high-pressure lube) between the adjusting tool and the sight bar to reduce friction.

The sight's cross bar is force-fit, so it is not supposed to move easily. There is only so much travel also, after which you may be jamming the sight post against the inside of the sight block. I've seen AKs where all the adjustment has to be taken up just to get a zero.

Remember to move the front sight in the opposite direction you want the point of impact to move.

if you were really moving that front post left or right, even just an 1/8 of an inch, it would be dramatically diff in it's point of impact, even at 50 yards.

My gunsmith adjusted mine and in the process made a front sight tool for AKs. Basically cut off a screwdriver, drill a small hold down the middle, and cut a slot. Get the dimensions from your front sight and go slightly larger so that it does not get stuck.
