Last night I was cleaning my GI after the trip to the range last week, I know, I know, but it was only 100 rounds....anyhow I field strip it and notice that the frame had some internal galling, and not on the rails either. It was located internally, where the slide stop fits through and the back righthand side of the raised ridge of the frame itself. I know its tough without pictures but it's the best I can do.

Anyways so I go ahead and clean it up despite the obvious flaw and try to get the slide stop in.....but I cannot get the pin depressed and the slide stop in at the same time. :cuss: So I try and push it straight down...nuthin' doin', I tried every concievable way to get this thing back together and finally gave up and went to bed.:banghead:

This can't possibly be normal....I've field stripped 5 inch 1911's in the past with no problems...but this one takes the cake on frustration. I'm taking it into the shop today to have them look over the galling and see if there is somthing that can be done about that pin. DANG that ticks me off.

A Champ GI that won't go back together and a SIG that chokes on box-stock .40's both in the same year?

Good luck.

I can't help with the Springer, but I'll hoist a Shiner's over a "Black and Bleu" burger at the buffalo wing place later today. It's an ancient ritual often invoked to curry favor with the spirits that hold sway over recalcitrant self-stuffing handguns.

In fact, I make sure it's at least two Shiners.

...least I could do.
:)

Gee...thanks. Well it went back to the dealer today to go back to the factory. Oh it went back together also, all it took was a gunsmith, a flathead screw driver and two cuss words. What a bargain.

I'm having no luck.:banghead:

Since the frame is galled so badly after only 100 rounds, the dealer speculated I'll get a brand new gun.

Can anyone guess what brand new gun I'll be selling next?
