Hello, my name is Jon Weiler and I am the owner of Professional Marksmen Inc. It is good to see such a positive and productive site for responsible gun owners. I am looking forward to the discussions here.

We’d like to welcome you to take a look at your summer schedules and see if you can join us for 2 or 3 days of practical training at the beautiful NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM. Our Off the Reservation Courses are destined to be an experience that you will not likely forget. We are going to take you off the flat range and put you in an environment that both fun and challenging. Just because we are off the range doesn’t mean that we sacrifice our instructional methods. We create a dynamic training environment that will never be the same twice. Off the Reservation is a unique blend of outdoorsmanship and practical shooting scenarios that will leave a lasting impression for many years to come.

We would also like to invite you to stay tuned to our blog, The PM Data Book. We will be adding posts and videos periodically with viewer questions, our testing, and upcoming courses. We are happy to address any questions that you may have about cartridges and platforms.

We hope to see you this year. Our Off the Reservation Courses are a very unique and fun experience set at the beautiful NRA Whittington Center. Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can be of any assistance to you on anything. Take care.

Thank you for the warm welcome. We've been running courses at the NRAWC for a few years now and it is such a great place for courses like this. The staff there are some of the best that I've ever had the chance to work with. So, that just enhances the overall experience for our courses and makes for a good time.

We have just added a new video blog to the PM Data Book with some talking points on the 6.5 Grendel vs. 6.8 SPC, if anyone has any data or stories to share with theses cartridges. We'll keep you updated when we post stuff like this because we are big into the practicality and purpose of the tools that we're using.

Thanks again for the welcome everyone. We'll be here often to visit. Take care.

Strambo,

What kettlebell workouts are you doing? A good friend of mine, who is also our lead S/A instructor, has just opened his gym in Birmingham. It's a Cross-fit style setup but offers more than just a WOD. I'll be featuring his workouts of the day on our website and I'd like for you to post what you've got going on too. We take practical fitness very seriously and try to maintain a high level of fitness - as much as our schedules will allow anyways. There's always room for improvement, that's for sure. :)

Anyways, drop by sometime and share some of your thoughts.

Thanks, I will stop by;

Not to thread drift too much (hey it's yours anyway)...but functional fitness geared towards the needs (correct energy system, types of strength) of a soldier, policeman, firefighter, citizen fighting for their life, is very important.

I mix it up based on what particular attribute(s) I'm working on at the time. I feel the primary needs for functional fitness for fighting are: Anearobic conditioning (bursts of speed&power w/ fast recovery), strength endurance, core strength/stability with a foundation of limit strength.

So...I use a lot of high rep ballistic KB movements to work anearobic conditioning and core/upper/lower body strength-endurance. Compound movement, old-school heavy weight training for raw, limit strength (low volume and low reps to focus on strength not size), like Deadlifts, presses.

I also like high intensity interval training with either sprints or body weight exercises. Joint mobility training before every workout. All workouts short (15-45 mins) because I have other things to do. Usually 3 times per week, sometimes 4.
