SN of the PTR 91 I'm looking at buying is AW22XXX. Heard there were some serial numbers that should be avoided. Not sure if this one is safe.

It's a PTR 91 sc with a 16 inch fluted barrel

found this
Have been following it for years (Particularly on THIS site), and it seems that above AW7000-AW7500 things are usually good to go. Above AW8000+, all is usually written/reported as OK from my best recollections.
I'm sure you will get the correct (although NOTHING is in concrete and EXCEPTIONS do pop-up!!) from other posts on here.
I can testify, again, that my AW05XX and AW12XX both performed GREAT and with ANY TYPE AMMO!!
A close friend has one in the AW3000-4000 range and is limited to shooting American Eagle or maybe

yours is a 22?
it is my experience and understanding that PTR Inc. rifles with serial numbers under AW2xxx typically had Wilson barrels installed. these barrels had properly cut flutes and ran fine with both 308 and 7.62x51, even tar-sealed surplus. I have an AW1xxx that falls in this range. this is NOT a JLD rifle, this is a PTR Inc. rifle.

newer model? i guess
I guess so. I'm just wanting to make sure I don't purchase a lemon. It's the squad carbine version. I don't think they make it anymore. I read somewhere they did a limited run of them a couple years ago. I assume it's one of those. Couldn't find a whole lot of info about the SN problems. Just wanted to make sure before I drop 1k on a rifle.

What do you mean by "bright" ?
There was a run some years back (mine was an A3R) that went out with rusted bore.
If you know it to be new in the last 3 years I would feel OK about it, but my own general rule is to pass on most used PTRs favoring new ones. I have had good luck with the GI models, and my last PTR carbine with collapsible stock was GTG.

I actually just watched a video about the same exact model PTR. In the video he showed the inspection paper from PTR and it had the date and serial number on it. 2017 was the year and the serial number was very close to the one I'm looking at. He loved his so I think I'll be safe with mine. Gonna go ahead and pull the trigger on this one ;)

Thanks guys

Sorry if I posted the images in the wrong order/ more than once. What do y'all think? I was worried it was a scam or that I would get in trouble for using PayPal to buy a firearm
