The news radio I listened to this morning kept saying rifles and shotguns, but newspaper stories say assault weapons. I haven't been able to find the specific definition of what it is they are seeking to ban but they are pushing to get something on the 2020 ballot.
Of course, there are miles of legal roadways to go before a specific definition appears on said ballot, but this is scary if they leave it as assault weapons with a detachable magazine that has the ability to take more than 10 rounds.
It's being pushed by Ban Assault Weapons Now and they're making statements such as:
“We have a gun Autobahn right now,” said Christine Leinonen, whose son, Drew, was killed at Pulse (Nightclub).
“The Second Amendment says guns should be well regulated. And we know that by banning assault weapons, that’s not going to solve every gun problem in America, but it’s a piece of the puzzle,” Leinonen (also) said.

I just read about this in the "new" paper.

Where exactly does the 2nd say firearms should be regulated?? I love how they make stuff up)

Another scary part is this: Gun Registration!

After the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Schwartz partnered with families touched by the Pulse shooting to try to prohibit the sale semiautomatic rifles and shotguns capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition — either in a fixed or detachable magazine. The amendment, if approved, would also require people who legally owned assault-style weapons before the ban to register them with the state.

They just do not understand that gun control will not stop crazy people!

There is a video on you tube somewhere that a Sheriff posted showing the amount of time to shoot 30 round mag vs reloading 3- 10 round mags. It is insignificant.

As I mentioned in another thread, who exactly determined that 10 rounds is some magic number or "standard" capacity?
Also now the term "assault" weapon is also "any semi auto" So a Ruger 10/22 is now a semi auto assault weapon.

It's getting really old!!

Especially since the "well regulated militia" is now just meaningless prefactory language thanks to Heller.
