Q for a1abdj concerning Amsec lock

I'm using an ESL10XL.
When I leave the safe open (bolt stays up. Unlocked)
Does this unlocked position put any drain on the batteries?
Uses 2 9V.

I'm not experiencing any problems and battery life seems excellent.

Short answer is no. The lock "locks" using battery power, but if the boltwork is blocking the lock bolt from extending it is simply held under mechanial tension until the safe is locked allowing the bolt to extend.
