When buying or have been given a handgun/s from an individual, am I obligated by law to register them in my name? I'll be inheriting a few guns and most of them were bought at gun shows both in and out of the state of Missouri over the past 20 years or so and were never registered. Can I legally carry without registering them?(I'm sure I remember seeing something about CCW requiring registration) I would not want to have any of them confiscated because of a lack of "paperwork." I also don't want to spend money on any repairs on guns that I could possibly lose due to a lack of knowledge on my part.

Thanks for the info. Now I just have to be concerned that any of them were reported as stolen years ago. I wouldn't like losing a gun, but I certainly don't have any objection to returning stolen property.

No gun registration in Missouri. Do not carry any of your new guns concealed on your person without first obtaining a CCW permit from your county sheriff. You must take a class, get fingerprinted, etc, to get your permit - most sheriffs are really good about this.

You may carry a loaded handgun concealed in your car without a permit (in Missouri) if you are over 21 and legally qualified to own a gun (no felonies, domestic assault convictions, etc.)

The Sheriff of our county was in awhile back complaining about loosing 50-60K off their budget as a result of the repeal of the handgun permit system and its fees.

No restrictions now in MO...and with the castle doctrine extension to one's vehicle now the law, you can carry a loaded handgun concealed on your person WITHIN the car legally.

Of course, as soon as you exit the vehicle, a CCW is still required for concealment...
