Has anyone gone quail hunting lately near Phoenix? I went for the first time this season over by Saguaro Lake a few days ago. Shot at three, and I might have seen ten total. Last year I went twice to the same spot, and it seemed like I was flushing them every fifty feet that I walked. I was hoping to go out again before the season ends, but I just wanted to see if anyone had luck anywhere else this season.

any more, near phoenix means at least fifty miles away. used to hunt them just over the hill from the usery mountain shooting range on ellsworth road.

i haven't been hunting quail in a few years, but you might try out four peaks road, queen valley, just this side of superior, or around bumblebee (north on i17).

quail population depends on the amount of rain we get during winter monsoon. a good rain means lots of chicks in spring and decent hunting the next fall.

if you aren't finding quail in numbers, you'll just have to look a lot harder. they're out there, just not as many.

Yeah, I hunted near Scottsdale last month, and saw a lot more quail there, in actual coveys, than I have been seeing south of Tucson.

You saw ten in one day? You did better than I have done all season, except for that day near Scottsdale.

I lived in the Phx area for over 5 years (just moved recently). My uncle and I would go in the McDowell Mtns north of Shea/Fountain Hills. Had some good luck there!
