Kind greatings to all who bothered reading into my post.

A quick Introduction : I'm an 18 yr old student and gun enthusiast from Austria.

A few days ago Ive purchased my first shotgun, its a norinco jw 2000 double barreled shotgun . Bought it for 350,- EU NIB, which seems to be the normal asking price in my location.

After taking it apart at home, I noticed a fair amount of rust in the area in between the barrels, where the two barrels are soldered together.

On the barrels , there is some visible pitting, , which can also be clearly felt poking around with a small screwdriver. I'll try adding some Photos .

Now my Question : Is this normal with these guns ? Would it even be save to fire it in this state ?

Please excuse my lack of english skills .

Thanks in advance ! Georg

Looks like they failed to neutralize the soldering flux or acid flux when they built it.

I doubt it is at all unsafe to shoot.

But the service life of the gun / solder joints may have already been compromised.

Thanks a lot for your reply, i feel somewhat safer now firing it .

Are there any owners of this model who experienced the same flaws, or was mine just a "monday model" ?

Kind regards, Georg

Georg,
I've had a jw2000 for about 9 or 10 years and it doesn't show any signs of rusting despite it being behind the bedroom door in a house where we use an evaporative cooler all summer. It serves as a home defense gun and only goes in the safe when I leave town for a while. It has held up Ok so far, but admittedly it doesn't get used all that much. My wife din't think the recoil with 00 buckshot was all that bad, but she still prefers her S&W 15-3. Don't believe I'd use it for skeet or clays, or hunting for that matter, but I have other shotguns for that. If yours is anything like mine I think you'll be alright with it.
