Question for owners of New Colt Cobras

I’ll try to remember not to buy anything colt again with THAT kind of customer service.

I won’t recommend them anymore if that’s what they do on service.

If all it needs is an ejector rod, that should be a ten minute fix, tops- SMH. And if they are THAT backed up with service work, they are either selling a ton of guns, or getting a ton of warranty repair requests......

My Colt came back Friday. It was gone about 10 weeks... ejector rod works properly but they didn’t fix the endshake and the front face of the cylinder can still touch the forcing cone when pushed forward.

I’m sending it back tomorrow. I hope they don’t keep it as long and they get it fixed this time.

Just awful. Sorry to hear that.

Any followup feedback, SteadyD?

Yes they finally got it back to me in working order. It still has a bit of endshake but is within their factory specifications. I am looking for some different grip options because the factory grip beats my hand up terribly. A 25 oz 38 special should be comfortable to shoot and this one isn’t due to not fitting my hand well. I still prefer my Kimber so I may eventually send the Colt down the road and put night sights on my Kimber.

My big takeaway is that they are very slow at warranty repair work. They aren’t the only manufacturer that needed more than one trip to fix a new gun but they took a long time to do it.

I guess I can live with needing more time for a fix but I can't abide having to return a firearm a second time because the factory didn't fix the problem the first time around. I just bought a new Colt King Cobra for my wife, mostly due to the superb da trigger pull in terms of lightness and smoothness, and so far, so good, regarding the workmanship and operation of this revolver. Your negative experience with the Colt factory's customer service, however, does not bode well with me in terms of having confidence that the company will stand behind its product in the (hopefully unlikely) event something goes awry with my new Colt firearm.
Thanks for your response.

I’ve had to send guns back more than once to Kimber, Ruger, Smith and Wesson, Beretta, Kahr, and maybe a few others I’m forgetting... my main beef with Colt is that they took so long and their warranty is only for one year. But Beretta also has a one year warranty that they will extend to three years if you register your serial number with them. I think Kimber is one year as well.
