Hey guys!

Ok so i just purchased a YHM-YANKEE HILL MACHINE PHANTOM COMP/BRAKE This weekend and received it today. I went to install it on my rifle and once the brake was at the point of being fully secured with 1 crush washer, the bottom of the break was not directly on the bottom like it should be. So i decided to try it w/o the crush washer and the bottom of the break was WAY off, the bottom was facing UP.

I was starting to get a little upset i couldn't get it to line up how it is designed to, but then i decided to use a 2nd crush washer and I was then able to secure the brake tightly onto the barrel with the bottom facing down finally! So now i have it installed with 2 crush washers.

MY concern is having 2 crush washers installed. Is this going to be a problem when i go to shoot it the first time? It is very much secured on the end of the barrel and i even put a drop of red loctite to make sure it doesn't unscrew or loosen. I just wanted to get opinions if its fine or not to use 2 crush washers. From what i can see it looks 100% safe and operable.

Thanks!

A torque wrench is your friend. You weren't reusing an old crush washer, were you? They are one-time use parts.

No, i was using the new crush washer that came with the new break. I dont know if i can get the break to do almost a full 300 degree turn clockwise after its already snug.it snugs up with the bottom at about the 7:00-8:00 area instead of it being at the 6:00 area. It would have to crush it soooo much to get it all the way around back to 6:00. With the 2 crush washers, it snugs up at about the 4:00-5:00 and tightens down pretty good at the 6:00 position.

So am i good with leaving it just how it is? the 2 washers are like bowl shape and fit into each other pretty securely. Thanks for the help!

Well i cant believe it. I actually was able to crank that muzzle around almost another 360 degrees with 1 crush washer. It was starting to get to the point of where it felt like it was getting easier to turn. (meaning it could be stripping the threads?)

But anyways... its on there with one washer, and its very secure. If anyone has any suggestions or comments, feel free please.

Thanks!

My only question is what was the pucker factor when you thought you stripped the threads out, I hate that feeling

When I started feeling it getting slightly easier... I definatly had the pucker factor going on. I figured well, I came this far, what the heck huh?
