I'm sorry, I can't remember the model number, but I handled a S&W .500 at the last gun show, one of their performance center models. I was expecting it to feel rather heavy, but I was surprised at how light it felt. It has to be one of the best balanced revolvers I've handled. I would have thought it would be very barrel heavy, but the gun felt like it just wanted to sit in my hand. Quite a pleasant surprise.

A friend of mine has the 6.5" PC version and tells me it is even more contollable than the standard 8.75", especially when 325-350 grain bullets are used.
The heavier unfluted cylinder and the effective muzzle brake make for a packable blaster that's easy to shoot.

I handled a 3-4" barreled .500 at my local gunmonger, and while it felt like a revolver should, it also seemed as if it had aspirations to weigh as much as a Buick. *shrug*

It would be pretty cool to whip one of those out CCW'ing at a criminal though. The :what: would be priceless. :D

Naw, the *ultimate* was the loony who built a percussion revolver with an unusually large bore.

One inch.

:what:

Same nut in Europe somewhere that built the 600 Nitro revolver :).

MY kinda nut :D.
