When I was fresh out of the Army and a poor bum going to college with very little money, I started dating a really nice girl. It was hard enough to impress her being so broke, but I did finally put together enough money for a used car. I even started to take her to church in this old beater. One Sunday while attending the service, some one came rushing in a and YELLED, there is a Car on fire. Everyone ran outside and watched my Cheap Little Renault look like a Bonfire.Man, talk about embarrison and down right sad. Had to catch a ride home with her parents.
The Next day, the church held a raffle. I won! A New Bike!!! Today this day, I think they rigged it just for me.

PS My son graduated from Army Medic school this am. God Bless America and this great Country!
That's a great story.
Congrats to your son.
My nephew joined the USC for two tours, then did one with the army. Two trips to the sandbox, one was nasty. Now he's married and living and working on a big cattle ranch near anaconda, mt. Riding horses, roping cows, hunting elk, moose,deer,antelope....hes really happy now.
His buddy that enlisted with him in the usmc won not one...but two guns in this very same raffle!

I have won a few. I have sold and tried to sell dozens more for folks who put them on consignment at the shop. Bottom line, if they have medallions, special markings they are usually going to go for less than a comparable model in the same (usually unfired) condition. DU guns are usually made and given in such quantities that the value diminishes. Heck, the commemoratives took years to rise back up to original price.
There may be exceptions but I haven't seen it.
I had a Ruger Super Blackhawk DU banquet gun with showcase, gold inlay, and after two years at a couple Cs under retail finally got rid of it. Enjoy them but they aren't big ticket investments.

Never won a gun raffle, a real one anyways.
About fifty some years ago I did win a toy gun at some school party that I can not recall.........but I do remember the toy rifle!

If anyone here remembers Herter's.

Oh yeah, I remember Herter's. Dad bought fishing supplies from them. That was when I learned how many are a gross. One could purchase hooks in a box of 144.

I have bought numerous raffle tickets and entered many drawings, but I've only won one gun drawing - the Gallery of Guns Great Gun Giveaway. Won a Diamondback DB10 .308 rifle, still have it.

I'm usually not an especially lucky person when it comes to contests and such, so I was shocked when I got the call from Davidson's. The icing on the cake? I won the drawing on my birthday. Happy birthday to me, lol.

Once I won a Mossberg 500 riot type shotgun, but my big win was an all expense paid bear hunt to Maine.

Not a big winner but my wife does have a knack for it.

Let me see if I can recall what we've won since 2010 or so

Marlin .17HMR
Remington R1
Weatherby pump 20 gauge (dont recall model, I sold it)
Ruger LCR
Glock 23
Remington 887 12 gauge
Springfield XDM 9mm (traded for a Henry Golden Boy)
Mossberg Maverick 20 gauge

I think there was another rifle but I can't recall

I have never had luck with gun raffles either, but had a friend who seemed like he had the golden touch. When he died, his widow had me go thru his gun closet and he had many D.U. commemoratives and other guns in the original boxes yet, that he had won over the years. One year he won a Honda Three Wheeler. While he was thrilled, he wasn't thrilled when the IRS made him pay gift tax on it...........

I have entered more raffles than I can count, but, I have never won anything.
I just keep entering and thinking that, someday, I will get lucky and win something.
But, oh well, it is fun thinking about winning something nice.
